Copywriting for women that mean business

Website words for a start-up eco business

How it started

Say hello to Lyn Lapworth, founder of Eco-for-All and one of the loveliest, most humble women in business I know.

I first met Lyn at a networking coffee morning with the Athena Network, she was taking the first baby steps to building her business and told me about her ‘little’ eco business idea. In that first conversation I was blown away by Lyn’s knowledge and enthusiasm and I knew I needed to help her get this off the ground in some way.

Marketing your business as a startup can feel really overwhelming so I suggested she start with a simple website to launch her services, capture her story and start sharing her passion for living the eco-friendly life.

Lyn had a limited budget at this point as her business was in the very early stages, so it was really important that the website copy provided as much extra value as possible, enabling her to repurpose it into her other marketing efforts.

The magic bit in the middle

Lyn was brimming with eco-knowledge but had no idea about what content she needed on her website, how she wanted to sound, what her message should be or how to communicate her offers.

Together we worked through the foundations of her new brand, identifying her target audiences and what they wanted to know, outlining what problems she could help them solve and what barriers they might have in working with her. We then explored tone of voice, mission and values to nail her unique selling points and reveal the true value in working with her.

This business is so unique, I hadn’t come across anyone offering these services before, so there was also an education piece to manage with the reader before we could get them on board with the idea of what Lyn’s eco services were for.

The copy was then brought to life in a brilliant website built by Sarah Sarkies of Mulberry Design. If you want a website that looks amazing and works hard at driving enquiries and sales then Sarah is your lady!

How it ended

Lyn may have started her journey feeling small, but 2 years on from creating this website she’s absolutely flying! From shy solopreneur to fully fledged, confident eco-expert, Lyn has gone through a major transformation, and I’m thrilled to have played a small part in her journey.

She now delivers her eco-courses nationwide on Zoom, she’s built a strong social media following, delivered keynote speeches at large networking events, won multiple awards and even done talks at The Ideal Home Show. She’s also recently launched a brand new lunch and learn service for corporate companies who want to educate their teams on all things eco. Go Lyn 🙌

Working with Lyn was truly joyful, her passion for what she does is so obvious when you meet her. If you’d like to be more eco-friendly but have no idea where to start, then Lyn is the perfect enviro-mentor. Her bitesize courses teach you about simple swaps you can make in your everyday life and how to save money doing it. Visit her website and read all about it!

Here’s what Lyn said about working with me:

“The overwhelm I felt at the start melted away as Jo made the whole process so easy. Her kindness, experience and attention to detail helped to bring my website to life. If you’re having any problems finding the right words, Jo is your lady. I would use her again in a heartbeat.”
